Gomez has been mentioned by multiple reports as rumours of Liverpool moving for Gordon ramp up but The Times say the 27-year-old is keen to stay at Anfield. Previous reports also suggested that Newcastle were willing to pay £45million ($58m) for the defender earlier in the summer.

Arne Slot has held discussions with Liverpool's longest-serving player about the upcoming season and Gomez himself is keen to earn his spot under the new head coach. Gomez has not spoken to Newcastle about a possible switch and looks set to remain on Merseyside, ruling out a swap deal between the Reds and Magpies involving Gordon.
